THE ROLE
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Impact Officer (CIO) is responsible for setting and executing PBGH’s growth, partnership, and impact strategy through innovative solutions tailored to large/jumbo employers. This role focuses on business architecture, market positioning, strategic partnerships, and revenue generation to expand PBGH’s reach and influence.

The CIO provides strategic oversight of PBGH’s advisory services and member value functions by defining business models, partnership strategies, pricing approaches, and go-to-market direction that is scalable and sustainable. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CIO works closely with the Board and senior leaders to align strategy, policy context, and market dynamics with PBGH’s priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Growth and Expansion

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy aligned with the organizational goals of growing membership and scaling data/advisory services and structuring strategic partnerships that deliver mutual value (e.g., member discounts, vetted vendor relationships).
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities using a consultative approach that maximizes value for members and clients and advances PBGH’s mission.
  • Lead growth cycle from initial outreach through contract close including scoping, proposal development, pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Design and operationalize business models for new initiatives (e.g., national Advanced Primary Care (APC) network), contributing market structure, partnership strategy, and revenue models.
  • Develop new relationships to enable growth and expand reach and capabilities.
  • Partner with marketing and communications to articulate the value proposition and develop case studies that highlight impact and ROI.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic direction.
  • Meet or exceed revenue and growth targets, keeping the leadership team and the board informed about progress.
  • Drives development of products and services offered based on market knowledge, feedback from stakeholders, and strategic direction.


Member and Client Engagement, Success, and Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to members and purchaser clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention, and fostering long-term relationships that lead to growth and referrals.
  • Build and manage high-quality ecosystem of consultants, vendors, and strategic partners—including major consulting firms—ensuring alignment with PBGH standards and member needs.
  • Serve as a senior consultant to employers on advisory engagements, providing exceptional service and strategic insights that drive healthcare improvement and innovation.
  • Develop a structured, transparent approach to identifying, vetting, and managing vendor partnerships to ensure quality, integrity, and member value.
  • Support the leadership team in managing existing strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and implement best practices for use of CRM database (Salesforce) to drive revenue cycle, ensure data integrity, automate tasks/reminders, and track overall engagement with partners.
  • Communicate and translate complex ideas into persuasive narratives that influence decision‑makers and accelerate change.


Events & Executive Engagement

  • Play a leadership role in developing and delivering high-impact convenings beyond annual meetings, including executive retreats, salon-style dinners, and other curated experiences for senior leaders and partners.
  • Ensure events are strategically designed to strengthen relationships, drive business development, and advance PBGH’s mission and marketing position.
  • Partner with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution and executive-level experiences.


Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted industry authority and thought leader, combining strong leadership, deep market intelligence, and a powerful network to challenge purchasers, redefine value, and advance innovative approaches.
  • Apply healthcare policy and regulatory knowledge to inform business strategy, partnership development, and market positioning.
  • Represent PBGH at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings
  • Contribute to thought leadership and brand positioning in the health and welfare benefits space.
  • Lead PBGH’s advisory and member value teams, providing exceptional people leadership and ensuring operational excellence and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Manage PBGH budget for functional areas and meet established budget targets.
  • Actively participate and provide support for Board of Directors, Committee, and other group meetings.
  • Demonstrate PBGH values, support organizational health, and fulfill the brand promise for customers and employers.
  • Manage relationships with external partners including other consultants, vendors and industry leaders.
  • Put the good of the organization above own personal agenda and interest.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in healthcare consulting, advisory services, contracting, advocating on behalf of employers, or related fields.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing complex relationships.
  • Deep understanding of employee benefits industry dynamics, regulations, and emerging trends.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with C-suite executives in fortune 500 companies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MHA, MPH or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Healthcare policy and advocacy experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel 15 - 20%. 


This is a full-time, 100% remote position working from anywhere within the United States.

COMPENSATION
